Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

Penweb is a publishing platform. This policy explains what data is collected, why, and how it is used. We keep this minimal by design.

1. Data we collect from readers

We do not collect personal data from readers. You can browse all articles without creating an account, logging in, or providing any information.

We use Vercel Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement. Vercel Analytics is privacy-first — it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint users, and does not share data with third parties. Page view counts and referrers are collected in anonymised, aggregate form only.

2. Cookies

Penweb does not place advertising or tracking cookies. A single session cookie is set only when an administrator logs in to the CMS at /admin. This cookie is strictly necessary for authentication and is not accessible to third-party scripts.

3. Advertising

Penweb uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to show you relevant ads based on your browsing history and interests. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more information on how Google uses data, see How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps.

4. Third-party content

Articles may embed images served from third-party domains (e.g. Pexels). When your browser loads these images it makes a request directly to those servers; their own privacy policies apply.

External links within articles are marked with rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow". We do not use affiliate links or tracking redirects.

5. Data we hold about contributors / admins

Administrator accounts are created manually. We store an email address and a hashed password. This data is held in a private database and is never shared or sold.

6. Data retention

Published article content is retained indefinitely. Administrator account data is deleted upon request.

7. Your rights

If you are an administrator and wish to have your account data deleted, contact us and we will process the request within 30 days. Readers have no personal data on record, so there is nothing to delete.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance.
